When you are building backlinks to your website, keep in mind quality, but not quantity of links.  Two or three high quality links can cover all your effort, which you spent for building a large quantity of low-quality links.  Thus concentrate on the quality of links you are building.

What do I mean by this?

First of all, backlinks to your website should be relevant to your website content.  If your website is about photography, then a link from gardening website will not make any sense for Google.

Secondly, look at Page Rank of website, where you get your link from.  If the link comes from a website with Page Rank one, but your website has a Page Rank three, then this link will be beneficial for website with PR1, but not for your website.

Page Rank is about trust.  How do search engines trust your website?  Is it your website important in Google’s eyes?

In order to get a website’s Page Rank do following:

• Go to http://www.pagerank.net/pagerankchecker/

• Enter into URL(s) box websites’ URLs, those you want to know Page Rank

• Type the Word Verification

• Click Generate button

You can check the Page Rank of multiple sites as well as one site.

If you want your website to meet Google’s Trust Rank criteria, it has to:

• contain a significant amount of unique content

• have a large number of quality backlinks

• have relevant for the niche keywords

• have been in existence for a long time

Another useful tool is Foxy SEO Tool 0.8.1.  Using this tool (it is only available for Mozilla Firefox browser) you can get access to search engine functions such as Google Site, Yahoo Site Explorer and Live Fromlinks.  You can in addition get traffic analysis sites such as Alexa, Compete and other.  You can check a site’s listing in such directories as Dmoz and Yahoo! I would also recommend using Google Webmaster tools.  It is free and will help you to analyse your website from Google’s view.  On the Home Google Webmaster tools click on the site’s URL, that is verified.  You will get a Dashboard.  On the left side of the page underneath Dashboard word click plus sign next to Your site on the web. You will find subheadings

• Links to your site

• Internal links
